I'm tired but fulfilling.. hee hee~~ came home from swiss cottage sec sch a while ago.. today was my first mentoring session at swiss cottage.. quite happy that everything went through smoothly, however, it wasn 't a good start.. i went there alone today cos one of my friend "fly my kite", i joined this organisation bcos she joined too then in the end, she went for other voluntary work organised by the organisation.. so here i am, alone at swiss cottage.. ok, reached bukit gombak mrt station (the nearest mrt station frm the sch) at abt 1.50p.m.. i was early, supposed to meet at 2.15p.m... so i strolled my way there.. the students just finished their classes and a lot of them were coming out frm the gate.. initially, i dun dare to go in.. i seemed like an "alien" cos all students were wearing uniforms and i was like "extra".. a bit scared too.. cos b4 i stepped into the sch, i saw a couple of their students smoking under the void deck opposite the sch.. but no choice, i had to go in, i took out my courage and stepped in. Exchanged my IC for the visitor pass with the security guard and called the person in charge (derek).. then there's this malay guy (i think he is malay but the students mentioned that he was from Europe, maybe he's a malay born in Europe.. hahaha) who bring me to meet derek.. wow, derek is a handsome young man.. think he is in his twenties. i thought he was one of the teacher frm the sch but i was wrong, he was the CARE (the organisation's name) youth worker. hmmm.... someone who cares abt the society.. good good.. hahhahaa..

Then i met a few other SMU students who were there for the mentoring session and i made friends with them.. hee hee~~ good good.. made new friends again.. then at 2.30p.m., derek assigned a few students to each of us.. i had abt 4/5 students that i had to coach.. wah lau.. they consulted me on their science lor.. i was like OMG... SCIENCE... I HATE SCIENCE.. ai yo.. so i had to look through their textbook once b4 explaining to them.. all those "fractional distilliation", "butene", "ethene", "vernier calipers", "petrolchemicals" were like aliens to me.. hahaha.. haven been reading all these for nearly 4 years so it' kinda hard for me to recall them but i tried my best to help them as most of them will be taking their "N" Levels this year (they are normal technical students) oh yah, two of the students were twins.. however, they were "unidentical twins".. hahahahaha... dun look alike at all.. looked like two different people and i din realised tt they were twins till they told me.. hee hee~~ so i taught them for the nxt 1++ hours then they started to chat.. so i chatted with them.. they were actually a bunch of innocent and nice youths.. though they may not be academically-inclined, they had a passion for learning.. one of the twins told me something that left a great impact on me.. She told me that her sis and herself knew that they were slow learner, so in order for them to catch up with the rest of their classmates, they had to work extra hard (double the time and effort tt their classmates put in) in order to achieve their desired results.. These words touches me.. i hope i can do my part in helping these students and may my little help lead them to achieve their goals..

They are promising youths and i do hope they will work hard and proceed on to the next phase of their life..

Its really great when u noe that ur little help eventually create an impact on a youth's life.. Its realli nice to stretch out ur hand and extend it to those who need it...
